The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) gained on Wednesday, following a three-session decline, as the benchmark index added 22.15 pts or 0.43%, closing at 5171.73 pts.

Turnover was seen at AED 331.482 million as 91.310 million shares were traded through the execution of 2473 transactions, compared to AED 265.857 million through the trading of 86.684 million shares and the execution of 1949 transactions.

A total of 34 companies traded, of which 21 gained, 8 retreated and 5 remained unchanged. Commenting on the ADX performance today, Mahmoud Ali, senior equity analyst at Al Madina Investment told Mubasher that banking and energy stocks supported the index’s gains on Wednesday, especially MSCI stocks like First Gulf Bank (FGB) and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB). Dana Gas also contributed to the ADX’s gains, he added.

The industrials, financial and investments, insurance, energy and banking sectors gained today, rising by 3.88%, 1.94%, 1.42%, 1.96% and 0.48%, respectively; whereas the real estate and services sectors fell by 0.35% and 2.20%, respectively. Aldar Properties lost 0.74%, whereas RAK Properties rose by 2.02%.
