Dubai Metro attracted 12,454,150 riders in August 2014, compared to 10,485,297 in the same month of last year, an increase of 19%, The Gulf Today reported citing Director of Rail Operation in the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Mohammed Al Mudharreb.
The top official said this year has seen a substantial increase in the metro ridership, which indicates that RTA’s plan projecting an increase in public transport ridership is moving in the right direction.
“Peoples have started to perceive and grasp the benefits and advantages of using mass transit systems, including the psychological and physical relief in having smooth mobility, besides economising on the expenses of vehicle fuel and maintenance,” he added
