Dubai-based developers, Dubai Investments (DI) and Q Developments, have announced plans to resume work on seven stalled projects across the UAE, Emirates 24/7 reported, adding that the resumption follows growing economic fundamentals in the country added to growing demand from global investors.

Listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), DI said it will re-launch a mixed-use project in Fujairah by December 2014. The project which amounts to AED 400 million will include a Marriott hotel, said DI CEO Khaled Bin Kalban, adding that the project will also entail residential and service apartments that will be subject to market conditions.

“It is a major project in Fujairah,” Kalban highlighted.

Developed by Al Taif Investment, the project is a joint venture (JV) between DI and Fujairah Investment Establishment, the investment arm of the Fujairah Government, with DI holding a 60% stake in the project and the Fujairah government owning 40% in the JV.

Similarly, Q Developments, part of the Q Group of companies, was hired by Dubai-based Empire Arabia to manage and deliver six residential and commercial projects, which were part of the former Best Homes Development, in emirate. The projects were put on hold during the global financial crisis in 2008.

Emirates Empire and Q Developments recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to commence work on the projects.

Q Group’s six developments include two in Sports City, two in International City, one in Business Bay and one Jumeirah Village Triangle.

“We have already been in contact with investors here in the UAE and as far as Pakistan, Russia, India, the UK and Canada,” said Q Group CEO Safi Qurashi, adding that “All have expressed relief that the projects are being revived, as they feared the worst when work stalled during the financial crisis. Each are now being offered various options depending on their individual circumstances, and we’re working closely with Empire Arabia to deliver all the projects to the highest standards.”
