ASE hits 3-year high on Sunday

The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) hit its highest level during Sunday’s session since April 8, 2012. ASE stood at 2206.54 points, jumping 1.71% or 37.10 points.


The industrial index registered an increase by 2.27%, backed by Arab Potash Co, Jordan Phosphate Mines Co and Lafarge Cement – Jordan which added 6.38%, 5.38% and 3.35% respectively.


The service index also gained 1.82% due to a rise in Petroleum Refinery Co and Jordan Telecom by 7.41 and 0.30% respectively.


The financial index also leaped 1.32%, affected by Arab Jordan Investment Bank, Arab Bank and Jordan Kuwait Bank – Jordan which gained 4.26%, 2.94 and 2.12% respectively. 


Furthermore, trading volume reached 16.9 million shares, at a turnover of JOD 16.2 million, traded through 6262 transactions.


The top three gainers were the Taameer Jordan Holdings Public Shareholding Company by 8.33%, Jordan Petroleum Refinery by 7.42% and the Arab Potash by 6.38%.


The top three losers were Resources Company for Development and Investment by 5.56%, the Arab International Food Factories by 4.76%, and Akary for Industries and Real Estate Investments by 4.65%.
