Bahrain's Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, said Aluminum Bahrain- Alba’s Line 6 expansion project will contribute to the Kingdom’s national economy and create additional job opportunities.
Regarding the gas allocation for Alba’s reduction Line 6, it is estimated to stand at the cost of around US$ 2.5 billion, he said on the side line of the 18th Arab International Aluminum Conference (Arabal 2014) .
The project will add 400,000 metric tons to the Company’s existing production 913,000 mt, and will increase the capacity to 1.3 million mt, he noted according to an official statement published on the company's web site.
Notably, Bahrain is a pioneer in the aluminum industry since 1960s, and home to one of the largest aluminum smelters in the world – Aluminum Bahrain B.S.C (Alba).
