The Bahraini government will increase natural gas price, starting from April 1, 2015.

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has been notified by the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) that the National Oil and Gas Authority of Bahrain (NOGA) has declared a directive to raise natural gas prices from $2.25 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) to $2.50 per MMBtu, according to Bahrain News Agency (BNA).

The gas price will eventually stand at $4.00 per MMBtu on April 1, 2021, escalating at $0.25 cents per MMBtu effective on April 1 of each year.

Alba noted that the projected annual impact for a $0.25 cents increase is nearly $30 million.

Furthermore, for 2015, the cost impact will be approximately $22 million for nine months.
