Manama – Mubasher: The Bahrain Bourse benchmark rose on Wednesday, backed by bullish performance of telecom firm Batelco and National Bank of Bahrain (NBB).

The index gained 0.3% or 4.42 points to close at 1454.87 points; thus offsetting Tuesday’s losses.

Batelco stock was the top gainer, with a rise by 3.2% to BHD 0.324; thus pushing the services sector higher by 1.6%.

NBB also added 1.2% to BHD 0.830; thus helping the commercial banks sector end 0.28% higher.

On the flipside, Esterad investment was the sole decliner with a 4.17% fall; driving the investment sector lower by 0.06%.

Wednesday’s traded volume amounted to 201.26 thousand shares, compared with 544.85 million shares yesterday, while turnover fell to BHD 72,000 from BHD 205,130.
