Bahraini market snaps 3-day rise, closes 0.2% lower

Bahrain-Mubasher: The Bahrain Bourse halted a three-session winning run, hurt by the banking stocks.

The benchmark fell 0.2% or 2.91 points to close Tuesday at the 1,438.46 level.

The commercial bank sector inched down 0.6%, as National Bank of Bahrain and Ahli United Bank dropped 2.44% and 0.68%, respectively. Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait as well as Khaleeji closed on a flat note.

The industrial sector was down 0.4%, hurt by Alba which fell 0.41% to $0.490.

The insurance sector declined 1.25%, as Ahlia plunged 9.73%.

On the flipside, the service sector was the top gainer, rising 0.94%, boosted by Batelco which climbed 1.83% to BHD 0.334.

Trading volume increased from 825,000 shares to nearly 998,700 shares, while turnover rose from BHD 125,300 to BHD 129,700.
