Banks, investment sectors drag BHB down in mid-session

Mubasher: Bahrain Bourse (BHB) headed into deep red in midsession on Thursday, led down by the banks and investment sectors.

The benchmark index of the stock market edged 0.6% or 7.11 points down to settle at 1,174.36 points at 11:45 am Bahrain time.

Liquidity amounted to about BHD 609,840 as trading volume reached 1.87 million shares which were traded through 37 transactions.

Arab Banking Corporation led the losers by 6% decline hurting the investment sector which went 2% down.

Banks sector retreated 0.22%, affected by drops in Khaleeji Commercial Bank and National Bank of Bahrain which fell by 1.47% and 1.45%, respectively. Meanwhile, Al Salam Bank rose by 2.27%.

The services sector levelled 0.3% up, backed by Zain which gained 0.6%.
