The deficit in the Tunisian food trade balance has risen to approximately TND 1.20 billion ($800 million) in September 2014, against TND 746.8 million in the same time of 2013.

The Ministry of Agriculture in Tunisia issued statements showing that the deficit is due to the low revenues of food exports in the first nine months of 2014, reaching TND 1.35 billion against TND 1.91 billion in 2013, a decrease of 29.1%.

The cost of Tunisian imports has amounted TND 2.56 billion in 2014 against TND 2.65 billion in the previous year, registering a decline of 3.7%.
