Tunisia has recently signed a drilling contract with Mazarine Energy, which is a new Dutch oil and gas exploration and production company. La Compagnie Tunisienne de Forage (CTF) will provide Mazarine with a CTF-4, which is a 2,000 horsepower onshore drilling RIG 04, for a two-well drilling campaign in Zaafrane, central Tunisia, reported Energy Voice.
The CTF-4 drilling rig is expected to arrive at the drilling site in early January 2015.
Meanwhile, the rig is 87 kilometers to the east of the Cat-1 location and will be drilled to a depth of 3,850 metres to evaluate the Lower Ordovician Hamra and El Atchane sandstone reservoirs, according to Energy Voice.
Noteworthy, Mazarine plans to develop the field within two years.
“The newly acquired 3D seismic looks highly promising, with new prospects and leads identified,” said Chief executive of Mazarine Edward van Kersbergen.
