Electricity Minister Ahmed Imam said the total investment plan carried out in FY 2012/2013 reached EGP 16.5 billion, according to State Information Service (SIS) website.
The total number of subscribers at the end of the fiscal year hit 29.7 million, increasing the generated energy by 5% compared to the previous year, Imam said during a general assembly meeting of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company on Saturday 18/01/2014.
The power sector is coordinating with the oil sector to provide fuel needed for running power stations, he said, adding that a feasibility study is underway to establish the first power station operating with coal.
