EGAS agrees to import 12 shipments of LNG by Aug
The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) succeeded in concluding an agreement to import about 12 shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG), according to a governmental source. The first shipment is expected to arrive by next August, said the source that declined to state his name according to youm 7 newspaper. The source assured that shipping receiving will be intensified during August and September, so the number of received shipments could reach 6 shipments, while the rest will be received during the remaining summer months. The source noted that the deal will be financed by Ministries of Petroleum, Electricity and Finance, and all the shipments will be directed for power plants. Chaos in the energy sector, kept going by oil handouts from Gulf Arab countries, will be among the biggest challenges facing the country's next president, who will take office this summer after elections scheduled for late May.
