Minister of Energy and Minerals, Abdul-Qadir Emara, said that Morocco is about to discover huge amounts of oil reserves within the next two years. He added that Morocco imports about 95% of its energy needs. The kingdom will start drilling 29 oil wells in 2015 and more in 2016.

Emara added that a specialized company’s announcement of producing the first barrel of oil recently is just a preliminary experiment, clarifying that this company is trying to produce oil from shale and the exploration activities gave encouraging signs.
