RAKBANK was named Bank of the Year at the Arabian Business Achievement Awards 2012 on Monday night at Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai. Helal Al Marri, Chairman of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), also won Outstanding Contribution to Business Award.

The judges remarked that Al Marri "had personally done incredible work to promote Dubai as a trade and tourism hub over many years".

In the same vein, Nasdaq Dubai-listed Hikma Pharmaceuticals scooped Healthcare Company of the Year Award. Emirates Airline won Airline of the Year.

Karam Awad, Managing Director of ITP Executive – publishers of Arabian Business – was quoted by Arabian Business as saying: “Despite the challenging economic conditions, tonight’s event has again demonstrated that there is no shortage of success stories all across the Arab world.
"We had close to 900 entries this year, and the 15 winners we have chosen are, we believe, amongst the very best companies and leaders anywhere in the world.”
