Dubai's biggest bank Emirates NBD has launched a new head office in Egypt, part of its international expansion plans.

The new Cairo-based subsidiary also launched its brand in the North African country during a ceremony attended by Egypt’s deputy Central Bank governor Nidal Assar.

Emirates NBD officials announced that the new subsidiary aims to become one of the biggest banking players in the country.

"The establishment of Emirates NBD Egypt brings together the bank’s local expertise, customer base and knowledge of the Egyptian market with the regional strength of Emirates NBD," a statement read.
