GCC discusses Gulf unified consumer protection system

Agents and heads of consumer protection bodies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are meeting today (Sunday) to discuss the general secretariat’s memo on the draft for the unified consumer protection law (system) and its executive regulations in GCC countries. This comes as part of the council’s efforts to issue this system, reported Al Rai newspaper.

The chiefs of GCC consumer protection bodies will convene their meetings today and tomorrow in Qatar.

According to the agenda, the meeting will tackle 10 items on two days. These items include the general secretariat’s memo on the unified website for unified Gulf consumer protection, which includes data and information related to the prices of commodities and services, in addition to the secretariat’s memo on unifying the application of guarantees amongst GCC countries.

Furthermore, the meeting will handle two other memos, one related to GCC products and the other related to Qatar’s establishment of authorized workshops to maintain and fix cars, as well as Qatar’s memo on the price list of similar commodities in the GCC countries.
