Etihad revenues up 28% in H1 2014
Etihad Airways has reported double-digit growth in passenger and cargo volumes during the first half of 2014, marking its strongest ever performance for the six-month period, with revenues surging by 28% to AED 11.75 billion ($3.2 billion), reported Emirates 24/7.

A total of 6.7 million passengers travelled on Etihad jets between January and June this year, registering a 22% increase from a figure of 5.5 million passengers during the same period last year.

Etihad Cargo registered a 25% increased during the first six months of 2014, which significantly contributed to the airline’s total revenue, Etihad said in a statement, highlighting that the cargo section of the airline “remains on track to become a billion-dollar business in 2014.”

“We have ambitious plans to build on this momentum in the second half of 2014, with five more destinations being introduced into our global network, and our ground-breaking Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 also entering service, which will reinforce our status as a global market leader,” said Etihad Airways President and CEO James Hogan.
