Progress seen at World Islands off Dubai coast after seaplane deal
The Dubai developer behind the Heart of Europe project within the World Islands has tied up with a seaplane tour operator in a sign that the project is inching towards a stage where it can attract tourists, reported The National.

Construction at The Heart of Europe (THOE) restarted late last year after legal issues that resulted in the developer Kleindienst Group paying AED 622 million to the UAE’s master developer Nakheel in an out-of-court settlement.

Construction is underway on the Germany Island, which comprises the first phase, revealed The National, adding that the Company said the second phase of the project, the Sweden Island, will be launched next month. The project will also include the main island called Europe, besides those named after Monaco, St Petersburg and Switzerland.

“This partnership offers prospective investors in Dubai and Seawings passengers a completely unique way to experience The World,” said Seawings CEO Stuart Wheeler said in a statement.

In accordance with agreement between the two companies, the Dubai-based seaplane operator will promote tourism to The World Islands, and will offer THOE guests preferential rates to fly over the islands and Dubai’s coastline. It would also fly guests from the Arabian Gulf region to the project.
