DEWA launches SCADA centre
Asenior official from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) said that Dubai residents can expect more efficient water and electricity services across the emirate with the launch of a new state-of-the-art centre to ensure quick response to emergencies, reported Gulf News.

DEWA announced launching the first phase of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) centre for water transmission at DEWA’s Sustainable Building in Al Quoz.

The first phase of the SCADA centre will enhance operational control of the water transmission network across Dubai, and will provide efficient, round-the-clock control of water transmission through automatic valves and pumps that can be operated remotely, Gulf News revealed, adding that the move is in line with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The system will help identify and isolate any faults in the shortest possible time and reduce wastage of water in the network.

“DEWA has been continuously upgrading its infrastructure with a particular focus on improving customer service and enhancing operational efficiency. The new control centre will play a pivotal role in strengthening DEWA’s capacity to improve monitoring of our systems across the emirate and ensure quick response to emergencies,” said Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, DEWA Managing Director and CEO.
