Nakheel has awarded a contract worth AED 59 million ($16 million) to Ghantoot Road Contracting regarding infrastructure works in Al Furjan residential complex in Dubai.
The contract involves the construction and upgrading of a network for transport and utilities for more than 30 mixed-use plots in the complex, in addition to modifications to existing roads. These construction works are expected to be completed by the Q3-15, according to Al Khaleej newspaper.
According to Construction Week Online, the plots, on which third party developers will build a mix of apartment blocks, retail and hotel accommodation, are located in Al Furjan Phase 2, which covers 1.2 million sq. m. and includes 500 third party villa plots, already sold by Nakheel.
It is worth noting that Al Furjan Phase I was completed last year and is now a thriving community of more than 2500 residents. The first phase boasts 800 homes.
