Shares on the Abu Dhabi bourse closed on an up note Tuesday, lifted by shares in National Bank of Abu Dhabi which helped offset the effect of selling pressure on other large-cap stocks.

ADX, the main benchmark stock index, gained 0.01% or 0.5 point to 5129.07 points.

“NBAD serving as the main boost to the index amid a profit-taking streak on some of blue-chips stocks,” said Nabil Hyder, head of Gulf Research in Al Madina Investment.

Shares in NBAD climbed 2.47%, while First Gulf Bank lost 0.8%. Aldar Properties and Etisalat closed flat.

Turnover stood at AED 312.6 million, while volume came in 100.7 million shares.
