Dubai electricity consumers to produce solar power - DEWA
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) revealed that it has completed the draft law that allows electricity consumers in Dubai to become producers through using solar power units. The draft law is in its final stages and is expected to be approved within a month.

According to DEWA, the law allows Dubai residents to produce solar power through installing production units on the top of houses or commercial buildings. This step comes as part of a framework to diversify energy production sources in the emirate.

In a press conference held in Dubai yesterday held under the auspices of the Supreme Council of Energy, DEWA noted that it has begun its preparations for hosting the international exhibition Expo 2020. DEWA plans to install two power transfer stations, it said, adding that each station costs AED 70 million.
