Total investments by Abu Dhabi Airports Company in expansion projects at present and till 2018 has reached AED 37 billion, said Abu Dhabi Airports Board Chairman Majid Al Mansouri, adding that the a scheme is currently being drawn to increase the number of travellers passing through Abu Dhabi till 2050.
The scheme, that seeks to keep up with the quick pace of Etihad Airways as well as the aviation sector in Abu Dhabi, will be implemented in 2020. It involves additional passenger terminals and a third runway.
Works at the new passenger terminal have been completed by 30%, Al Mansouri revealed, adding that construction is progressing according to schedule. Around 50 million working hours have been completed without any accidents, he noted.
