The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) is the Lead Strategic Partner of the Fifth Annual Middle East SME Forum. The two-day event beginning on October 21 at Abu Dhabi aims to strengthen strategies and means for the growth of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and the expansion of entrepreneurship.

The forum brings together entrepreneurs, financial institutions, government agencies, and Banks and SME solution providers from around the region to analyse business trends, opportunities, client service, e-commerce, and all subjects and means relevant to the growth and success of SMEs and nurturing entrepreneurial culture. This high profile event is supported by Ministry of Economy (Abu Dhabi), Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Khalifa Fund in various capacities.

NBAD is also contributing to the analysis, discussions, and debates that will help the conference achieve its aims and objectives. Nilanjan Ray, Managing Director - Commercial Banking, and Chris Baines – Managing Director, Merchant Banking will be joining the event to share their expertise and viewpoints on topics of discussion.

Moreover, NBAD’s exhibition stand at the Forum will present the Bank’s world class products and services exclusively designed for SMEs to facilitate their sustainable growth.

NBAD’s sponsorship and support for this conference is a result of the Bank’s strategic belief that promoting and facilitating the growth and success of SMEs contributes greatly to the health of the economy and growth of other businesses across sectors.

“Entrepreneurship is the foundation of a robust, growing economy and we believe nurturing and facilitating the growth of SMEs ensures the growth of our business,” says Abdulla Al Otaiba, Senior Managing Director & Group Head - Global Retail and Commercial Banking, of NBAD. “We strongly believe that boosting entrepreneurship would advance significantly the economic growth of the UAE and achieving the objectives of Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, which sets the blueprint for developing Abu Dhabi into a world destination for tourism and commerce.”

SMEs contribute more than 60% to the UAE’s nominal GDP and provide 86% of all private sector employment.

Now in its fifth year, and held since inception in Abu Dhabi, the focus of the 2014 forum will be more on the growth potential across the region’s enterprise development, upstream and downstream business opportunities for and from SME’s. Moreover, it will be a platform to discuss legal perspective across the region’s SME sector, entrepreneurial organisation development, access to finance, credible SME banking solutions and best practices in transforming from a small to a medium enterprise, to name a few.

The fifth annual Middle East SME Forum commences on Tuesday October 21, 2014 in Dusit Thani Hotel in Abu Dhabi and continues on October 22. The speaker panel and the delegate participation will mainly comprise of business owners, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, government institutions, banks and economic development authorities.
