Madrid-based Parques Reunidos is said to have been appointed to operate the upcoming two theme parks in the Dubai Parks & Resorts Complex, Gulf Business reported, adding that the announcement was made by Meraas Holding, the company in charge of developing Dubai’s massive theme parks project.
Pursuant to the agreement, the Spanish company will operate the Hollywood-inspired Motiongate Dubai and Bollywood Parks Dubai.
Parques Reunidos primarily works across Europe and the US. The new deal marks its first entrance into the Middle East market.
Commenting on the award, Parques Reunidos CEO Yann Caillère stated “The Middle East region offers exciting prospects for the leisure and entertainment industry, and we have been planning our regional foray for some time now. As our first venture in the Middle East, Dubai Parks and Resorts holds a special place in our hearts and is an important step in our phased expansion strategy into growing markets.”
Parques Reunidos currently manages and operates 54 theme and amusement parks, water parks, zoological and marine life parks worldwide.
