EMID to produce Marlboro cigarettes
The Emirati-Moroccan Company for Industry and Distribution (EMID) will launch a tobacco production unit consisting of four production lines. The tobacco products in the unit are said to belong to the Philip Morris group, known for its pioneer brand Marlboro, reported Moroccan World News.

EMID, which is a subsidiary of Al Rashideen international Holding Company founded in 2013, was granted the permission of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to establish a plant, on a land space of 6 hectares near Tangier Med port, where its products will be allocated to export.

With EMID’s move La Société Marocaine des Tabacs (SMT), a subsidiary of Imperial Tobacco Group will no longer has the monopoly over cigarette manufacturing in Morocco, according to the News website.

Noteworthy, a total of 100% of the raw material used in the production will be imported, since all tobacco growers are bound by an exclusive contract with the SMT which funds their crops.
