DFM shuts 0.26% higher; Arabtec, Emaar steady
Dubai Financial Market General Index (DFMGI) ended Thursday’s session on a positive note, backed by banking, investment and telecom sectors.
Meanwhile, the real estate sector ended unchanged as Emaar and Arabtec kept flat.
The index rose 0.26% or 11.9 points to close at 4563.4 points. Thus, the index failed to rise again above the 4600 level.
The banking sector rose 0.44% powered by DIB (+0.53%) and Emirates NBD (+0.71%).
The investment sector also added 0.7% amid positive performance by Dubai Investments (+0.1%) and DFMC (+0.37%).
The telecom sector jumped by 3.6% to take the top position among advancers. The sector was backed by du that rose to AED 5.490 to come second among gainers.
The real estate sector inched lower 0.1% hurt by Union Properties and DSI that offset gains made by Emaar Malls and Deyaar.
Trading activity lost momentum, as traded volume reached 219.54 million shares exchanged in 4.26 thousand transactions at AED 551.3 million.
