Al Ghaith has awarded the Indian Nuberg Engineering a contract worth $50 million to build the first calcium chloride factory in the United Arab Emirates, Construction Week Online reported, adding that the project capacity is of 85 maximum tolerable period of disruption (MTPD) and is the third being carried out by Nuberg on behalf of Al Ghaith.

"The project is a leap in the direction to encourage the non-oil industry in UAE. This project will enable us to not only cater to the local market but also export to neighboring countries as well. This is our third project with Nuberg and we are extremely satisfied with the organization’s engineering depth and breadth. Nuberg's commercial competitiveness is also commendable, thereby, making it a logical decision to partner with one of the most trusted EPC-LSTK companies," Al Ghaith Industries Chairman Ali Hamel noted.

"We are excited about the project as it gives us the opportunity to set up UAE's first calcium chloride plant, making us one of the most trusted and reliable EPFC-LSTK companies globally,” Nuberg Engineering Chairman A.K. Tyagi said, adding that “The scope of the project includes the process design and technology, basic and detail engineering, project management, procurement, erection, quality inspection, safety enforcement, hand holding, training and commissioning services. The fabrication for heavy process equipments will be done from our state-of-the-art manufacturing unit in Gujarat (India)."

It is worth highlighting that calcium chloride has an essential use in the oil and gas industry.
