ADX gains most in 5-wks powered by real estate, energy, banks

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) shut Tuesday’s session in the green territory, thus continuing with early gains and nearing the 4600 barrier.

The market was fueled by real estate, energy and bank stocks.

The benchmark index ADI gained 65.27 points or 1.44% to close at 4591.73 points. Thus, it touched its highest level in 26 sessions.

The real estate sector advanced 5.52% backed by Aldar (+5.65%) and Eshraq (+3.80%).

The energy sector came second among advancers as it was powered by Taqa and Dana Gas that were boosted by the rise in global oil prices on Monday.

The banks sector rallied 1.55% helped by FGB (+2.61%) and NBAD (+1.87%). Meanwhile, the investment sector tailed the list (+1.29%), after Waha Capital rose by the same percentage.

On the negative front, three sectors were negative, led by industrial (-2.02%) that was pressured by Julphar (-6.58%) and Arkan Building Materials (-2.73%).

Consumer Staples also fell by 0.92% hurt by Agthia (-1.15%).

Tuesday’s turnover rose to AED 321.51 million from AED 171.25 million, while traded volume increased to 191.63 million shares from 101.535 million shares.
