UAE, Kuwait post highest inflation in GCC

The GCC region has recorded inflation rates ranging between 3.1% and 0.8% during the 12-months period through December 2014, according to recent data issued by the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat).

 

The UAE recorded the highest annual inflation rate at 3.1%, followed by 3.04% in Kuwait. Additionally, Qatar posted an inflation rate of 2.7%, followed by Bahrain and Saudi Arabia with 2.5% and 2.4% respectively. Meanwhile, Oman posted the lowest rise by 0.08%.

 

Additionally, the general consumer price index (CPI) grew by 0.97% in Kuwait, 0.34% in the UAE, 0.2% in Bahrain, and 0.1% in Saudi Arabia in December, compared to November.

 

Meanwhile, Qatar and Oman registered a decline by 0.3% and 0.08% respectively, regarding the CPI.
