DGCX reports $35bn in Feb contracts

Dubai – Mubasher: Volumes on the Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX) grew 3% in February, trading 929,152 contracts and reaching a total value of $35 billion.

“DGCX’s Indian Equities portfolio was a strong performer, growing 22% from the previous year. Sensex Futures grew 20% year on year and 10% from the previous month,” revealed a statement by the DGCX, adding that the Indian Rupee Options were another major performer during the month.

Indian Rupee Options recorded an all-time high volume and value, with 7,200 contracts traded at a total value of $1.18 million, a 103% surge compared to figures from January.

“The hydrocarbon segment also performed well, registering a growth of 130% y-o-y,” the statement highlighted, noting that WTI crude oil saw its highest monthly volume since September 2011, reaching 3,588 contracts and marking a 32% growth month-on-month and 154% from the previous year.
