ADX in green on real estate, telecom gains

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) continued its gains for the eighth straight session in Wednesday’s early trades, backed by growth in the real estate sector.

The index increased slightly by 0.07% or three points to 4,561.68 points by 11am UAE time. Turnover reached AED 75.4 million as 50 million shares were traded through 761 transactions.

The real estate sector grew 0.14% as Eshraq Properties added 1.32%, while Aldar stabilised. The telecom sector gained 0.15% as Etisalat rose by 0.45%.

On the other hand, the energy sector dropped 1.76% as TAQA plunged 5.19%. The banking sector inched down by 0.03% as First Gulf Bank (FGB), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) shed 0.34% and 0.19%, respectively.

The investment sector recorded the highest gain of 2.64% as Waha Capital saw a similar rise.

Profit-taking is necessary for UAE markets following eight straight gains on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) and seven on the ADX, analysts told Mubasher.

The Abu Dhabi market rose for the seventh straight session on Tuesday, amid backing from real estate stocks.
