Cairo-Mubasher: Nearly 98% of dry digging was accomplished and 227 million cubic meters of sand were lifted, said Chairman of Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish.

He added that 140 million cubic meters of wet sand were also removed, noting that the project progress is "miraculous".

Mamish pointed out that the New Suez Canal will be equipped with the most modern seamarks and buoys to achieve the highest level of navigational safety to passing ships.

A total of 110 buoys will be installed at the new canal in May and June, in addition to guidance and control stations that will be developed across the canal, the Chairman said.

He added that a main station will be established in Ismailia and the navigation control system at the canal will be developed.
