Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's central bank (CBE) sold EGP 7.75 billion in domestic treasury bills on Sunday, the Ministry of Finance said.
CBE sold 91 days bonds worth EGP 3 billion that were covered three times, at an average yield of 11.392%, highest and lowest yield of 11.410% and 11.249% respectively.
Meanwhile, CBE sold 266 days bonds worth EGP 4.5 billion that were covered 2.4 times at average yield of 11.392%, highest and lowest yield of 11.410% and 11.249% respectively.
Treasury bills and bonds are currently the main funding mechanism for both paying off the government's debt and financing new projects.
