Cairo – Mubasher: Qalaa Holdings said Saturday that Rift Valley Railways, a subsidiary operating railways in Uganda and Kenya, signed two memorandum of understandings with the Chemical and Fertilizers Export Council (CFEC) and Expo One.

The signing cam during Africa 2016 business forum that kicked off today in Egypt's resort town of Sharm El Sheikh.

The first MoU will allow Egyptian exports from CFEC board to use cargo transport solutions to East African markets via Rift Valley railways along with its logistics services.

Meanwhile, the second MoU is aimed for the promotion of transport and logistics services that Rift Valley provides via Expo One.

The final agreements will have positive results for Egypt's exports, as well as Rift Valley's operations, said Karim Sadek, managing director for logistics at Qalaa.

Rift Valley has had exclusive rights to manage and operate the railway linking Kenya to Uganda for 25 years, linking the Kenyan Mombasa Port on the Indian Ocean and the Ugandan capital, Kampala. The 2,352 km-long railway passes through all the interior areas in both Kenya and Uganda.
