Dubai to host exhibition for Omani products
Dubai will host the third edition of the Oman Products Exhibition (Opex 2014) to be held between September 14 and 16 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, according to Emirates 24/7. The distinguished bilateral trade relations and strong bonds between Oman and the UAE paved the way for choosing Dubai as the host for Opex 2014, said Ayman Al Hasani, Vice-Chairman, Head of Industry and Mining Committee, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He explained that Dubai was their obvious choice as the emirate is a global business hub, while its preparations for hosting Expo 2020 offered many opportunities for stronger trading ties. Recent figures reflect well on the non-oil bilateral trade between the two countries, he said. “As officials in both countries work hard to strengthen economic ties and to maximise common interests, expectations for the economy for year 2014 are high. Annual growth in non-oil sector is expected to reach 5.5 per cent supported by a huge public investment program. Real GDP is also expected to grow by 5.1 per cent, reflecting a slower rate of increase in oil production,” he said. “The organising committee aspires to bring together a wide variety of high quality Omani products from various sectors, including: food and beverages, furniture, aluminium products, building and construction materials, textiles and fabrics, perfumes and cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, logistics and utilities.
