Atkins, 8 other firms compete for Omani road project
UK-based Atkins will compete with eight other companies for a contract to provide project management consultancy (PMC) services on the Diba-Lima-Khasab section 2 road project in Musandam in the Sultanate of Oman, reported Construction Week Online.

Other firms that have submitted technical offers are Driver Consult Oman, Swiss engineering consulting firm Renardet Ingenieurs Conseils, Consulting Architects and Engineers, National Engineering Office, Watad Engineering Consultants, Malcolm Pirnie, Omani Engineering Consultancy Co and Corduff Oman Architecture.

The tender for pre-qualification was opened in August 2013 and was floated in May 2014 by Oman's Ministry of Transport and Communications.

According to Oman's Tender Board’s website, 33 construction and engineering companies, mostly international, sought to pre-qualify for the project. The tender was opened at the Tender Board on Monday, the last day for submitting technical offers.

It is worth mentioning that the Diba-Lima-Khasab road project is a carriageway in the Musandam governorate that cuts through extremely rugged terrain. The project includes a 65km-long coastal road, between Al Khalidiya, in the wilayat of Khasab, and Diba, passing through the village of Lima. Section 2 is an extension of the first stage and is 21lm long.
