Majis Industrial Services has awarded Acciona Agua, in a consortium with Sogex Oman, a $25-million contract for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the desalination plant at Sohar Port in the Sultanate of Oman, reported Construction Week Online, adding that the agreement is effective for five years, with a possible two-year extension.
It is worth highlighting that this the fourth large-scale contract won by Acionna Agua in the Middle East and first in the Sultanate.
Last year, Acciona Agua was awarded O&M contracts for the Haddah & Arana treatment plants and another for the design, construction and start-up of the seawater desalination plant at Al Jubail, both of which were in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, it was awarded the design, construction, start-up and operation of the Fujairah desalination plant in the UAE.
The state-owned Majis Industrial Services is the exclusive water supplier for all the industrial customers in the Industrial Port of Sohar, the construction website added.
