GCC-China trade exchange reaches $175bn
The GCC region plans to further boost its economic, commercial, and investment ties with China, KUNA reported citing said a Gulf official.
This statement was delivered by Advisor Mohammad Al-Mutairi during a meeting between the GCC delegation and representatives of the Chinese government.
The meeting discussed the upcoming dialogue between partners on the Silk Road gathering next Tuesday which aims at developing economic ties between China and the GCC, Al-Mutairi said.
He indicated that both sides plan to further bolster economic and commercial relations in the future, noting that commercial exchange between the GCC and China reached $175 billion in 2013 compared to $9 billion in 2002.
Al-Mutairi said this strong rise in the commercial exchange was due to China's ever-growing need for energy supplies in which the GCC region was gladly providing.
