Qatari investments in Germany set to go up - minister
Qatari Minister of Economy and Commerce, H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani has underscored the importance of economic relations between Qatar and Germany and urged German investors to make use of huge investment opportunities available in Qatar, reported The Peninsula Qatar. Highlighting the strength of the bilateral relationship at the Qatari-German Economic Forum held in Berlin yesterday, the minister noted the trade volume between the two countries increased by 12.5 percent in 2013 compared to the previous year. The volume of Qatari investments will rise in Germany at a rapid rates next stage. At the same time, he welcomed more German investments to the Qatari market and win a share of the opportunities provided by the Qatari economy. “Qatar occupies a strong priority for German investors, with 27 companies operating in Qatar fully-owned by German investors. In addition, a total of 112 companies are involved in developing railways, trade, services and infrastructure owned by joint Qatari and German capital.”, he said. The minister said there are several German-supported Qatari companies such as Qatar Solar Technologies (QSTec ) and Qatar Clariant successfully operating in Qatar. There are also Qatari investments in Germany that cover many areas of economic activities, including in companies such as Volkswagen , Hochtief and Siemens, along with many of the operational processes in addition to the portfolio in the field of real estate.
