Qatar CPI rises 3% YoY
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics (MDPS), Qatar’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) reached 119.0 points in November 2014.

The CPI showed no change in November 2014 when compared to October 2014. This stability resulted from the combined effect of price changes in the main groups. The prices of garments and footwear, rentals, fuel and energy, furniture, textiles and home appliances, and entertainment, recreation and culture increased by 0.2%, 0.1%, 0.1% and 0.3% respectively. Meanwhile, the prices of transport and communication, and miscellaneous goods and services fell 0.3% and 0.7% respectively. The prices of food, beverages and tobacco, and medical care remained unchanged.

Qatar’s overall CPI in November 2014 rose 3.0% compared to November 2013. The increase was attributed to a rise in the prices of food, beverages and tobacco, garments and footwear, rentals, fuel and energy, furniture, textiles and home appliances, medical care, transport and communication, and miscellaneous goods and services by 0.1%, 2.9%, 7.6%, 3.8%, 0.8%, 1.5% and 1.5%. On the other hand, miscellaneous goods and services group recorded a decline by 0.4%.

The CPI of November 2014, excluding rentals, fuel and energy group, reached 128.4 points, recording a decrease of 0.1% compared to October 2014 and a rise by 1.4% compared to November 2013.
