Qatari bourse halts six-day losing streak

Qatar-Mubasher: The Qatari bourse snapped a six-day losing streak, as investors focused on buying leading and med-cap stocks.
The benchmark rose nearly 0.73%, or 86.4 points, to close Wednesday at 11898.18  pts.
Capital market expert Hamoud Al-Aazmi said the local bourse has witnessed today strong buying transactions on some leading and med-cap stocks after a steep decline.
All sectors headed north, except for telecommunications and insurance which dropped 0.86% and 0.10%, respectively. Real Estate was the top gainer, rising 2.25%. 
Wrapping up stocks, Islamic Holding led the way on gains, rocketing 7.4% to QAR 106.10. It was followed by Gulf International which climbed 7% to QAR 97.20.
On the negative side, Cinema was the biggest drag, taking a dive of 8.8% to QAR 40.10. Cement followed, with a decline of 2.6% to QAR 128.
Trading volume rose from 11.64 million shares to 12.13 million shares, while turnover increased from QAR 475.86 million to QAR 514.95 million.
Al-Aazmi said speculators benefited most from today’s trading, while long-term investors faces risk at this timing.
