Qatari bourse extends gains amid fluctuations

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Exchange benchmark index ended Tuesday in the positive territory, continuing with Monday’s gains, after seeing a jittery session.

The benchmark rose 1.32% or 152.16 points to reach 11673.45 points, while Al Rayan Islamic Index added 1.23% to 4246.42 points, and All-Share Index advanced 1.20% to 3111.99 points.

The benchmark is continuing to trade below the support level for January

Mohamed Sonbol, technical analyst, advised traders inside the market to adopt a wait-and-see approach, adding that those outside it to await the emergence of suitable purchasing powers.

The banks sector was the best performer, with a rise by 2.56%, backed by most of its constituent stocks.

However, the real estate sector fell by 1.13% as it was weighed by Ezdan and Mazaya Qatar that sagged 1.92% and 0.45% respectively.

Ahmed Farouk, financial analyst, said the 11400 level was a strong support from which the index reversed its direction. He added that the index saw profit taking from 12800 till 11400 levels.

Tuesday’s turnover amounted to QAR 403.8 million, generated from executing 4729 transactions on 8.08 million shares.

Industries Qatar was the top active with turnover reaching QAR 55.19 million, while Vodafone Qatar came first with a traded volume of 1.13 million shares.
