Doha-Mubasher: Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) inaugurated the QAR 6 billion Sur IPP project with a total capacity of 2000 megawatts so as to become the largest power plant in the Sultanate, representing more than 28% of the current installed capacity in Oman.

The plant is expected to play an important role in meeting the increasing demand on energy in Oman, according to a filing to Qatar Stock Exchange.

Phoenix Power Company Chairman Khalid Mohammed Jolo said that his company is preparing for the upcoming IPO, which will provide an opportunity for the Omanis to invest in the future success of Phoenix.
