Tadawul rises 0.5%, shuts at highest level since Feb. 2008
Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) ended Thursday’s session with a rise by as much as 0.51% or 52 points to 10214.73 points – its highest close since February 27, 2008 - compared to yesterday’s close of 10162.73 points. Thus, the measure continued to stay above the 10,000 level for the third successive day.
The petrochemical industries sector was the top riser, despite the bearish performance of SABIC stock.
10 sectors headed north today, topped by energy (+4.68%), followed by transportation (+1.55%), petrochemical industries (+0.91%). Meanwhile, 5 sectors headed south led by retail (-0.7%) the Insurance (-0.66%).
Thursday’s turnover fell 5.25% to SAR 8.8 billion from SAR 9.29 billion yesterday. It is 15.22% and 33.68% higher than the average weekly and monthly turnover of SAR 7.6 billion and SAR 6.58 billion respectively.
Meanwhile, traded volume increased 12.94% from 250.6 million shares yesterday to 283 million shares. It is 25.48% and 50.10% higher than the average weekly and monthly traded volume of 225.5 million shares and 188.5 million shares.
73 stocks moved higher and 72 moved lower today.
Trade Union was the top gainer (+9.91%), followed by Al Hammadi (+9.72%), then Sanad (+5.79%) and Saudi Electricity (+5.34%). Meanwhile, Alalamiya Cooperative Insurance was the biggest loser (-10%), followed by Buruj Insurance (-5.72%) and Bupa Arabia (-4.93%).
SABIC was the most active in terms of turnover for the third successive session, with SAR 818 million. Meanwhile, Dar Al Arkan was the volume leader, upon exchanging 30.5 million shares.
