Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) has signed two contracts with Siemens for the construction of static VAR compensators (SVCs) at Madinah East, Hail-2 and Al Jouf-2 380 kV substations in Saudi Arabia, according to Construction Week Online.
Under these contracts, Siemens will provide SEC with SVC plus and protection systems, transformers, switchgears, civil and electro-mechanical work with a project execution of 24 months.
The contracts were signed by, Arja Talakar, CEO, Siemens Saudi Arabia and Peter-Karlheinz Bruder, head of energy transmission, Siemens Saudi Arabia.
Eng. Ziyad Al-Shiha, SEC’s CEO, said the construction of Static VAR Compensator (SVC) will play a vital role in the stability of the network and smooth transmission of power in Madinah, Hail and Al Jouf regions, particularly in the time of high demand.
