Saudi bourse back to red after crude prices slump
Saudi Arabia’s benchmark Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) reversed its four-session winning run to end Thursday’s session in the negative territory. The index remained down last week.
The index ended the day 0.40% or 70.86 points lower at 10165.33 points, compared with 10206.19 points yesterday.
Thursday’s session saw selling pressures during the first thirty minutes, after 53.3 million shares were exchanged during that time, accounting for 24% of the daily traded volume reaching 225.9 million shares. Thus, the market fell by 165.04 points or 1.62 points then trimmed its loss to 0.4%.
Media reports said crude prices recorded Wednesday their biggest daily losses in more than one week, hurt by the sudden increase in US crude reserve.
The market sectors were almost down, as 12 moved lower led by transport (-3.01%) then energy (-1.21%), while three others bucked the downtrend.
