Tadawul surges to 2-month high amid strong turnover

Riyadh-Mubasher: The Saudi Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) ended Wednesday’s session with a gain of as much as 2.61% or 226.3 points to close at 8912.5 points. Thus, the index hit its highest close in 38 sessions (since December 18).

The market was backed by all sectors mainly petrochemical industries.

The index gained 518.69 points, or 6.2% during the last four sessions and 579.20 point, or 6.95 points since the start of 2015.

The market turnover jumped to a five-month high of SAR 13.11 billion, compared with SAR 10.9 billion yesterday. Traded volume rose to 538.6 million shares from 457.9 million shares.

Sectors collectively moved higher, except for transportation that slipped 0.81%. Petrochemical industries was the top gainer (+4.54%), followed by real estate development (+3.57%) and banks (+3.09%). Media & publishing and telecommunications tailed the list with 0.14% and 0.51% respectively.

131 stocks moved higher topped by Alalamiya (+9.79%), then Dar Al Arkan (+9.61%) and Yansab (+9.51%). Meanwhile, 20 stocks moved lower led by Trade Union (-8.61%), followed by Allianz SF (-3.56%) and Anaam Holding (-1.83%).
