Egypt Needs 10 Million Jobs Before 2020, Ex-Official Says

Egyptian former Minister of Work Ahmed el Borai said that Egypt needs to create 10 million jobs by 2020, the CNN reported Sunday. The former Egyptian official said that the figure was the result of studies and statistics of the country's labor market. He stressed that unemployment was one of the biggest problems facing Egypt after the revolution. He added that the threat was bigger given that 51% of the Egyptian population was younger than 35 years old. He said that there were 700 thousand fresh graduates every year in Egypt, which made providing jobs a key priority for the coming Egyptian administration.

He welcomed news that the Libyan Minister of work was present in Egypt to agree the use of up to one million Egyptian workers in Libya, particularly as Egyptian economy's growth in 2012 was 1.8%, compared to 5.1% before the revolution took place in Egypt.
Studies showed that unemployment rate in the Arab world was towards 22%.
